| Abstract | Biographical sketch of Algot Jackson, Sr., "president of the A. R. Jackson Kansas City Show Case Works." He was born in Sweden in 1846 and came to Kansas City in 1869 as a construction worker engaged in the erection of the Hannibal Bridge. He became a carpenter and manufacturer "of show cases" initially at 10th and Baltimore Avenues, then relocating to "the old German building" at 2nd and Main Streets, and then to 222 Main Street until 1879, then to 19th and Cherry Streets, then to 4th and Broadway and to 13 East 3rd Street in 1884 and finally to 3rd and Holmes Streets in 1890. |
