AbstractBiographical sketch of Frank Hummer, "acting as private secretary to Kansas City's mayor," born in Ohio in 1854 and coming to Kansas City about 1888. Description of his career, starting out as a tinner and carpenter in Ohio before moving to Gallatin, Missouri, in 1870 and to Kansas City in 1888 "as county bridge inspector," then engaging as a loan collector and bookkepper before appointed in 1894 as mayoral assistant.
