AbstractBiographical sketch of August Meyer (1851-1905), a civil engineer and native of Saint Louis, Missouri, coming to Kansas City in 1881 as a mining investor and co-founder of the park board and the park and boulevard system here.
Notes"A large fund was subscribed and collected [for the August Meyer memorial statue] and a commission given to Daniel Chester French [or Daniel French], the eminent American sculptor, to execute a portrait study of heroic size, which was placed in one of the public parks in the year 1908" (p. 197).
