Kemper, "head of the Kemper Loan and Investment Co., in the Gibralter [sic] building," and "also the owner of considerable real estate in Kansas City, including the Whitney building," as well as organizer of the Kemper Grain Company in 1893. Description of his life and career, born in Gallatin, Missouri, in 1860 (according to this source, but actually 1865) and entering "the general merchandise and banking business" in Kansas before coming to Kansas City in 1893, "elected president of the Kansas City Board of Trade, the youngest man that ever filled that place."
