AbstractPhoto and chapter of the book about Jean Harlow (1911-1937), a movie actress born in Kansas City as Harlean Carpenter at 3344 Olive Street, moving during her childhood to 4409 Gillham Road and then during her years at Barstow School (at 15 Westport Road) to 1312 East 79th Street. Description of her life and career, moving to Hollywood with her mother in 1922 as aspiring actresses and appearing in her first movie in 1930, "Hell's Angels," soon becoming "Hollywood's most glamorous star" in other films such as "Bombshell," "Dinner at Eight," and, with James Cagney, "The Public Enemy."
