AbstractPhoto and bio of Ernst Stoeltzing, "a retired hardware merchant." Born in Germany in 1842 and emigrating to Kansas City in 1866 as a tinner before establishing his hardware store in 1868 at 1415 Grand Aveune and residence at 3430 Charlotte Street.
NotesPage 527: "He [Stoeltzing] established a hardware store [in 1868] at No. 1415 Grand avenue, where the business is still carried on. At that time the old Metropolitan block, the first brick business block in the city, stood on that site."
