Born in New York in 1847 and coming here in the late 1800s, "appointed by President Roosevelt as a member of the National Commission on the Conservation of Natural Resources" in 1908 and elected "President of the Kansas City Historical Society" in 1912. Donor of a large genealogical library or collection to the Kansas City Public Library.
