| Abstract | Photo and autobiography of William Whitehead Taylor, or William Taylor, a retired brickmaker and building contractor. Born in England in 1844 and raised in Kansas City during the border warfare and Civil War periods (with description of many related incidents and early brickmaking locations) before building the following structures: "the first Packing House in Kansas City, several power houses for the Metropolitan St. Railway Company, W. J. Smith's warehouses and factory, the County Court house, County jail, Board of Trade, American Bank, Midland Hotel, Water-works Building, Heist Building and a great many dwelling houses." |
