AbstractBiographical sketch of William Larkin Webb, or W. L. Webb, "editor and proprietor of the Independence Progress, Independence, Missouri." Born in Jackson County, Missouri in 1856 and becoming a teacher and "deputy assessor of Van Buren township" before being "appointed by President Cleveland to the position of United States gauger for the western district of Missouri" in 1887 and elected Missouri state representative in 1888 before joining the Independence newspaper.
