AbstractBiographical sketch of D. L. Shouse (1827-1873), an early banker of Kansas City. Native of Kentucky and father of Louis Shouse ("manager of Convention Hall today") coming to Kansas City in 1855 by steamboat as "a partner in the mercantile business on the Levee in the firm of James, West & Shouse" before becoming cashier for Mechanics Bank and then the Bank of Kansas City.
