Born in Tennessee in 1815 and emigrating to Saline County, Missouri in 1816 with his parents before starting a mercantile business between Arrow Rock and Savannah, Missouri in the 1840s and specializing in wholesale groceries in Saint Joseph, Missouri in 1856, establishing in 1867 "a mammoth wholesale grocery house in Kansas City under the firm name of McCord, Nave & Co." |
