| Description | Postcard of the Woodson Smith Hat Company at the Postal Telegraph building |
| Historical Article | An old post card published in color and mailed in 1910 pictures the Postal Telegraph Building, located at the southwest corner of 8th and Delaware. The structure was designed by architects Root and Siemens and was built in 1898 by William McGraw Reid.
Part of the ground-floor space was used by the Postal Telegraph Company for the public counter for the sending and delivery of messages and money orders. An upper floor was used by the telegraph operators, who used Morse code. The remainder of the building was rented for office space.
The sign, Woodson Smith Hat Company, across the front of the building indicates the offices on the second floor of the hat and cap company. This promotional card made for use by the company's drummers who mailed them to customers in their territory.
The card was mailed by T. B. Hall to J. M. Granlee's general merchandise store in Atwood, Kan., and reads as follows: April 1, 1910. Gentlemen: I will call on you in the month of May with a large line of Fall and Winter Hats & Caps. Yours very truly, T. B. Hall.
The Postal Telegraph Building later was razed and the site now is a parking lot.
