Historical Article: I am on my vacation now and having a splendid time. I am charmed with Kansas City. Although very warm, always a good breeze here, wrote Molly Dorly on a postcard sent from Kansas City and dated July 27, 1912. It was mailed to Mrs. M. Salyard, 1120 So. Maple, Carthage Mo., with a green one-cent stamp.

Two canoeists are pictured plying their paddles on the wide stream. Tall native trees along the bank cast long shadows on the water and furnish welcome shade for the boatmen.

The Blue River, flowing near Kansas City's southeastern boundaries, joins the Missouri at Sheffield. For years it was a favorite haunt of area outdoorsmen.
