Title: Jesse James

Description: Lithograph drawing of Jesse James in suit coat, shirt, and tie. Drawing is signed by the artist. Below the signature is written "'Gentleman of Missouri' Jesse James -- at twenty eight years of age NEBRASKA CITY NEBR. 1875." On the back is a label that reads, "Lithography of Jesse James by George L. Warfel, US Dept. of Agriculture, Beltsville, Md. Donated to MV (May 1973) by the artist."

Biographical Note: In 1863, James joined Quantrill's Guerrillas and after the Civil War became leader of the James-Younger gang. He was shot by a new member of his gang, Robert Ford, April 3, 1882.
